Event Description

We will be diving into a topic that is ever-present but rarely talked about in organizations: the power of power. Why do some wield a lot of power and others do not? Why do some misuse their power and others do not? How can you maximize the impact of your own personal power? (especially during a pandemic)

We will examine "rank", the way power is organized. Rank affects us all socially and professionally.

If we understand rank we are more likely to use our power more skillfully. If we do not understand rank we are more likely to be ineffective at what we do.

We will be using a definition of power given by Dr. Julie Diamond in her book called Power: A User's Guide. She says quite simply: power is "our capacity to impact and influence our environment."

How are you impacting your environment? Are you ready to have a bigger influence?
